Values Based Education
Children and young people attending the Oxfordshire Hospital School are unique learners, often being taught in conditions very different from their home-school environment. Whilst they are with us, they may be learning alongside students and teachers they do not know, with students of different ages and abilities and with a variety of medical needs. They may be taught in their beds, in classrooms or in their homes.
We recognise that Values Education is vital in creating an approach to teaching that not only creates a strong learning environment which enhances academic attainment, but also continues to develop students’ social, emotional and relationship skills that will last throughout their lives.
Values Education serves to inspire our young people, whatever their particular need and wherever they are on their learning journey, to adopt positive values so that they can be the best people that they can be, actively demonstrating these values in their daily lives, thereby creating a sustainable world.
Our whole school values set, selected by our school community, embraces six key values: resilience, curiosity, hope, kindness, equality & respect. These values are principles that guide our thinking and behaviour.
What is it?
The Values Education Quality Mark is a validation of a school’s exceptional practice through Values Education. Recognition is given through the award of the unique Values Education logo by the International Values Education Trust.
